Beautiful sunshine at Cardiff Airport

It was a glorious four hours spent at the Cambrian Café Bar, Cardiff Airport with AutoAvia and Mark Pearce.

Despite it being the busiest day for scheduled movements there was very little in the way of visitors.  We did however get a Cessna 560XL Citation Excel, Beech C90GTi King Air, TB-9 Tampico & Robinson R22 Beta II.

Next visit TBA

On returning from Cardiff Airport it's just a quick swing past St Athan to catch a few Royal Air Force Hawk returning from their sorties.

A day of two halves

When I woke up in the morning morning the weather was miserable and not ideal for taking photo's at all.

I decided regardless to head to the the Cambrian Café Bar, Cardiff Airport in hope that I may get a decent shot or two.

After some poor quality photographs in the morning by 1pm the weather had vastly improved and managed to catch the British Airways Boeing 777-300 ariving from Heathrow and Eastern Airways Saab 2000.

Next visit will be Tuesday

Glorious day at Cardiff Airport

AutoAvia Photographic and I had arranged for a day of photography at Cardiff Airport making most of the busiest day of the week and the glorious sunshine.

It was nice to see the Cardiff Airport GA apron almost empty as aircraft departed making the most of the perfect flying conditions.

It was a shame however that there was only one visiting light aircraft during our visit.

Despite the heat distortion making it a bit difficult for high quality images it was certainly a good four hours.

A couple of hours at St Athan

With a gap in commercial aircraft at Cardiff Airport it was a huge waste to miss a full day of photography so it was decided to swing by St Athan on the way home.

What we thought may have been an hour turned out to be several as the temporary Royal Air Force Hawk T.2's were extremely active.  We managed to get over six in total with many performing training circuits on their return to base.

It was a first to see two of the UK Search & Rescue departing simultaneously as the AgustaWestland AW189 performed training as the AW139 was scrambled to an incident.

Three hours at Cardiff Airport

After being undecided on where to go for a couple of hours today the destination of choice was Cardiff Airport.

Three and a half hours spent  at the Cambrian Café Bar, Cardiff Airport.  With a nice spot of dinner and Royal Air Force visitors turned out to be a good day

Two Hawk T.2's performing a fly-past, A400M go-round and a landing by the Tucano T.1.  There was also a visit by a Staverton Flying School Cessna F152.

Due to work commitments next visit will be Tuesday next week.

Tour of Cardiff City Heliport

A tour of the Cardiff City Heliport (ex Tremorfa Heliport) which has now re-opened to traffic after several years.

Despite no visiting traffic during the visit it was great to meet the team and to take a look around.

Only image taken was a panoramic view of the empty apron.
